This year marks a special milestone in the history of Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof: our 30th anniversary! For three decades we have been offering our guests a unique vacation experience in the beautiful Limburg hills. In honor of this special occasion, we invite you to celebrate with us.

Our history
Since opening in 1994, we have created countless memories for our guests. Located in picturesque South Limburg, this vacation destination has welcomed countless guests over the years and provided them with a unique and unforgettable vacation experience.
Early years
When Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof first opened its doors, it was an immediate success. The vacation park offered a wide range of facilities that were perfect for both families and couples. The highlight was undoubtedly the outdoor pool, where guests could cool off and relax during the hot summer months. In addition to the outdoor pool, there was also an indoor pool, so visitors could enjoy water fun all year round, regardless of the weather.
Hospitality and relaxation
The park also had a cozy restaurant with an inviting terrace. This place quickly became a popular meeting place for guests. Here they could enjoy delicious meals, refreshing drinks and, above all, the relaxed atmosphere. The terrace offered a beautiful view of the surrounding hilly landscape, which contributed to the ultimate vacation feeling.
Activities and entertainment
Over the years, Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof has continued to develop and improve. The vacation park introduced numerous activities and facilities to meet the needs of its guests. From playgrounds for the little ones to hiking and cycling tours through the beautiful Limburg countryside - there was always something to do for young and old.
Change and growth
Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof has undergone several changes and adjustments over the years. Although some facilities, such as the swimming pools and catering facilities, are no longer available, the park has developed into an ideal destination for hikers and cyclists.
You walk from De Mechelerhof directly into the hills, into the woods or along De Geul to surrounding villages. At the reception and in our app are numerous short and longer walking routes available.
For cyclists there are several facilities available such as bike lockers and lockable bike sheds, a bike cleaning station where you can clean your mountain or gravel bike, bike rental and bike tools. And, of course, there are plenty of bike routes available for cyclists as well.
The vacation homes have been modernized to meet contemporary comfort requirements, allowing you to enjoy a relaxing stay amidst the beautiful Limburg hills. The homes are owned by private owners who furnish the homes with great attention and care. Thus, each house has its own atmosphere. The story of Marian and Jacq
''We are Marian and Jacq, both of Limburg birth. It was in 1993, when by chance we saw an advertisement announcing vacation homes in Limburg. This seemed like the perfect solution for us: our own base in Limburg where we could stay during the weekends with our then young family, closer to family. It was a dream come true!
For us, the house at De Mechelerhof is not a second home, but a second home. One of the most special memories I, Marian, have are the one-on-one weekends with each of our four children at the transition from elementary to high school. During the wonderful walks and bike rides through the Limburg hills, we could talk together in peace and quiet about the closing of a period and looking forward to a new phase.
To this day, our vacation home is regularly used by the whole family, in all kinds of different compositions. Our now adult children themselves go there with friends and girlfriends to enjoy the outdoors and the Burgundian character of South Limburg. Hiking, biking, good food at the Italian in the village, sidewalk cafes ... 'bon viveren' is what I so aptly call it.
And soon we will be taking our first grandchild to De Mechelerhof for the first time. A family tradition continues, and we can't wait to make even more memories in our second home.
For us, the past 30 years have been filled with love, laughter and unforgettable moments at Buitenplaats de Mechelerhof. We look forward to spending many more years here and adding new chapters to our story.''
